REACH For Wellness is a cardiovascular disease prevention coalition sponsored by the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness through funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  REACH For Wellness has been organized to encourage lifestyle changes to reduce the risks of heart disease and stroke among residents of the Atlanta Empowerment Zone.  REACH offers free community-based services such as nutrition education classes; physical activity programs; empowerment groups for men and women; and cardiovascular wellness centers in churches, barbershops and beauty salons.  REACH For Wellness is a collaborative effort between the Divine Universal Sisterhood, Sisters Action Team, the Association of Black Cardiologists, the Association of Black Psychologists and Morehouse School of Medicine.

The burden of stroke is greater among African Americans than in any other group. In fact, blacks have almost twice the risk of first-ever stroke compared with whites, and blacks 35–54 years old have four times the relative risk for stroke

The Spirit of Sweet Auburn and Reach For Wellness in Support  of the American Heart Association will bring the information to you at the Sweet Auburn Springfest. You have the Power To End Stroke

We have created a Public Health Awareness Mobile Marketing Unit to screen adults for ADHD by using the World Health Organization ADHD screener.  Our goal is to screen as many people as possible.  For those that test positive or those who have questions for other family members we will answer questions on-site, provide some printed materials, provide some web resources and refer them to a local physician.  We will work with the local ADDA chapter to have a counselor on-site to give more information.  We will also have a Health Care Provider there to answer any initial questions regarding ADHD.  We will have greeters to help facilitate the screening process and distribute brochures.  Bottles of water and road trip themed premiums will be distributed (i.e. key chains, compass).
