Downtown Atlanta's Sweet Auburn Festival is a street fair with a message.
On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X T-Shirts, an in the reggae and rap music that is heard from dozens of sound systems along Auburn Avenue on Saturday was about pride in the African-American heritage.
And many among the 200,000 people in attendance were buying the message.
The Sweet Auburn Heritage Festival is held on Atlanta's most historic street in the Martin Luther King / Sweet Auburn Historic District.  In 1956 Future magazine called it the richest "Negro" street in the world. Today Auburn Avenue is making a dynamic comeback.  Come and experience the Sweet Auburn Renaissance
