Honor Our Grandparent(s) Contest

Did you know that National Grandparents Day has been around as a national holiday since 1978?

When was the last time you actually honored your grandparents?  Well, now is the time to strengthen your family legacy and preserve the heritage of your family grandparents with an essay or poem.

All entries must be original and written by the entrant.   Only one (1) entry per person.  All Entries are to be emailed to Contest@OPALssite.org or faxed to 770.234.5331, and must be received no later than 12 midnight September 1, 2010.  Spelling and grammar will be a part of the criteria.  Entries must be no more than one page, double spaced in at least a 12pt font.   Judging criteria includes Originality, Authenticity, Spelling and Grammar.

·         WHY MY GRANDMA/PA  IS VERY SPECIAL TO ME

·         I HAD THE BEST TIME WITH MY GRANDMA/PA when…

·         MY GREATEST WISH FOR MY GRANDMA/PA is…

·         PRESERVING THE FAMILY HERITAGE

·         TAPPING THE WISDOM

·         HONORING GRANDPARENTS

·         STRENGTHENING THE BOND

·         A FAMILY AFFAIR

·         BUILDING UPON THE LEGACY

 

There will be five (5) entry categories :

1.       Age 5 – 8

2.       Age 9 - 12

3.       Age 13 – 16

4.       Age 17 – 20

5.       Age 21 -25

All entries must include the following to be considered:

1.       Full Name of Entrant

2.       Gender of Entrant

3.       Date of Birth and Age

4.       Title of Submission

5.       Contact Information – Telephone # and  Email Address

6.       City and State of Residence

7.       Note if grandparents are living or deceased

8.       Note if grandparents live in same household, state or out-of-state.

Winners will be announced on Sunday, September 12, 2010, at 3:00 p.m., National Grandparents Day and prizes will be awarded to Winner and Runner-up in each age group and honorable mentions will be recognized. Judges decisions are final.
